This was our 2nd accommodation during our 2 month NZ road trip. My family stayed here 2 nights in mid-November. We loved the very peaceful and cozy motel, ideal for kids.
We had a family chalet and had what was probably the most private unit. The kitchen is a little squeezy but fits whatever you would require - stovetop, mini-fridge and utensils. The dining table had a nice view of the road.
Location-wise, it is a convenient one minute drive away from the town centre, including the TranzAlpine railway station and the track leading to Devil's Punchbowl.
While I didn't have much interaction with the owners, my first impression was very much positive. Even when we left, the Kaikoura quake had just struck that night and the owner gave a useful update on what roads were closed, although we were heading west. A lovely stay.
